Shenandoah is a landscape rich in history and extensive natural beauty as far as the eye can see. It boasts the well renowned Shenandoah National Park, a long list of wineries and a land rich in Civil War history.  It’s no wonder that nearly 2 million visitors visit the area. Shenandoah is nestled in northern Virginia – about 2 hours east of Washington DC. 

So many people interested in skydiving want to know where to skydive for the views. Well, Shenandoah will not disappoint! When you skydive in this part of Virgina, you’ll get more than you bargained for making it a weekend long trip. Let’s discover more about Shenandoah and why it’s a great place to skydive!

Shenandoah National Park 

Shenandoah extends almost 200,000 acres, tucked along the Blue Ridge Mountains. The park opened after Christmas in 1935. The park offers camping, historical walks, many hikes including roughly 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail, waterfalls, horseback riding, and scenic drives with their most well-known being the Skyline Drive.

Shenandoah Wineries 

Did someone say wine? Why yes, yes we did! Although we have a very strict ‘no alcohol’ before skydiving policy, you are definitely welcome to partake after your skydive. So after making a tandem skydive with us, or if your the muti-event-in-one-day-kina-person, a skydive and a hike in Shenandoah National Park, enjoy a long list of gorgeous wineries in the area as a perfect endcap to the day.

Civil War History of Shenandoah 

Shenandoah became an important location in the Civil War and is the site to an incredibly rich history throughout the war. There are several battlefield sites that you may visit throughout the area including the Third Winchester, Cedar Creek and Cross Keys.
